The PlayStation 2 allows you to switch its video output signal between YUV (component) and RGB (SCART/standard) depending on the type of display you are using. If your TV shows incorrect colors, washed-out images, or no display at all, chances are the PS2 is set to the wrong signal mode.
To fix this, simply go into the PS2's System Configuration menu :
-
Turn on your PS2 without a disc.
-
Go to System Configuration .
-
Scroll to Component Video Out .
-
Choose between Y Cb/Pb Cr/Pr (YUV) or RGB depending on your TV connection.
-
Use YUV if you're connecting via component cables (best for modern TVs).
-
Use RGB if you're using SCART or composite connections .
Once set correctly, your display will show the right colors and sharper visuals.
