Still alive

Hey, as you might have noticed, I resumed my work on nulldc-360 and libxenon not long ago.

I'm currently working on 3 things: compatibility/sound/speed.

6 months ago I was badly stuck on 2 bugs, one texture endianess problem, and one random crash/infinite loop in the dynarec.
First thing I did was to look at that texture bug, in a few days I found the exact case where it happened and fixed it for good.
Then I fixed the dynarec one, it was quite an awful one: I forgot to save/restore the SH4 condition flag on dreamcast interruptions, so it was randomly corrupted as the emulated console handled its IRQs!
I fixed a few more bugs until it was clear I needed proper sound emulation for more games to boot.

Adding sound was relatively straightforward, of course there were the usual endianess related bugs, but I guess I'm getting used to it ^^
The Dreamcast sound chip (AICA) is a complex design, it has an ARM processor core, a 64 channel sound generator, and a DSP.
I don't emulate the DSP for now, many games don't really need it.
Main problem with sound is the induced emulator slowness, though thanks to the 360 multicore cpu, I was able to make it almost free.

Updating peripherals in the dynarec works that way: each code block knows how many SH4 cpu cycles it emulates, and each time a fixed number of cycles (448) is reached, it calls a procedure that updates those peripherals.
To multithread sound, and by the way, other peripherals, I run parts of that update on a separate core.
It runs concurently with the dynarec, and, basically, every 448 SH4 cycles both get sychronized. so as long as peripherals emulation takes less time than SH4 emulation, the dynarec doesn't have to wait for them!
So that makes them almost free to emulate, almost because they still stress the 360 L2 cache and memory controller a little.

Anyway, compatibility seems pretty good now, sound works, speed is more or less the same it was before sound emulation, a proper binary release *might* not be that far

MENUISO=Y pour activer
MENUISO=N pour désactiver

RESUMELAST=Y pour activer
RESUMELAST=N pour désactiver

Changelog :

- Added support for 16d5s fw 1175 (RGH)
- Added AoE support

Changelog 1.26 :

Fixes bug in 01.25 firmware affecting PHAT consoles

I am releasing my True Blue USB dongle PS3 ELF dumper which works with any PlayStation 3 Firmware greater than 3.56 to dump the encrypted TB EBOOT / ELF files once they are loaded.

Tested on:Original 355 -> okTrue Blue CFW v2 -> ok...There are some bugs (size of dump ...) but it works. It's ELF dumper from memory and it work with True Blue cfw v2 and any 3.55 firmware because it doesn't use lv2 peek/poke.

Warning: It will not brick your ps3. But I am not responsible for any damage.

HOWTO:Enable dev_blind with multimancopy libsysutil_np_trophy.sprx from /dev_blind/sys/external/external to dev_hdd0/ and rename it "orignal_libsysutil_np_trophy.sprx"copy my modified "libsysutil_np_trophy.sprx" to /dev_blind/sys/external/load a True blue game from multimanexit multimanrun your gamewait few minutes (if you get black screen after 3 minutes reboot ps3)exit gamego to ftpin dev_hdd0/ there are your decrypted DUMPEDBOOT.bincopy and rename it with another name.Howto uninstall patch - Two ways:You could uninstall this patch by replacing modified libsysutil_np_trophy.sprx by orginal libsysutil_np_trophy.sprxOr update in recovery modeThanks to: Ps3dev

Brief Guide:

1 - Install TB ELF Dumper first as stated in its readme file.
2 - Start Multiman, it will make a dump of multiman eboots, so you must delete it first by browsing to dev_hdd0 then delete all DUMPEDEBOOT.BIN files you found there.
3 - Back to multiman game selection then select any TB game then launch it.
4 - Start the game from XMB then wait for some times until game start.
5 - Exit game now then start multiman again then browse to dev_hdd0 and now you must found a decrypted game dump.

Changelog :

- Doesn't stop dumping when it reaches embedded ELF
- Dumps 35MB of RAM in one write call (so it takes ~1 second)
- Dumps are saved in /dev_hdd0/RAMDUMP-##.BIN where ## is from 00 to 99 for 100 sequential dumps
- Doesn't really require the original sprx, since loading never succeeds anyway
- Tested: dumps mM, Beyond Good&Evil HD PSN...
- Rebuilding the original 'elf' takes few minutes if you know what you're doing

Spoiler ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
RETROARCH 360 - 0.9.7
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
RetroConsole Level: 2
Author: Themaister, Squarepusher/Twin Aphex
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HOW TO INSTALL THIS
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Copy the entire folder to your harddrive.

ROMs go into the 'roms' directory, or some subdirectory in the
RetroArch-360 directory.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HOW TO USE THIS
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On first startup, RetroArch will select one of the dozen or so
emulator/game cores. The name of the core currently loaded will be
shown at the bottom side of the screen.

You can now select a ROM that this core supports and load it in the
Filebrowser.

To select a different core - go to 'Change Libretro core' in the Main Menu.
Press A to go to a filebrowser where you can select a different core. Press A
to switch to the emulator/game core.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
INGAME CONTROLS
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
During ingame operation you can do some extra actions:

Right Thumb Stick - Down - Fast-forwards the game
Right Thumb Stick - Up - Rewinds the game in real-time
('Rewind' has to be enabled in the
'Settings' screen - warning - comes at a
performance decrease but will be worth it
if you love this feature)
RStick Left + RT - Decrease save state slot
Rtick Right + RT - Increase save state slot
RStick Up + RT - Load selected save state slot
RStick Down + RT - Save selected save state slot
Right Thumb + Left Thumb - Go back to 'Menu'/'Quick Menu'

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WHAT IS RETROARCH?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
RetroArch is a modular multi-system emulator system that is designed to
be fast, lightweight and portable. It has features few other emulator
frontends have, such as real-time rewinding and game-aware shading.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WHAT IS LIBRETRO?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Libretro is the API that RetroArch uses. It makes it easy to port games
and emulators to a single core backend, such as RetroArch.

For the user, this means - more ports to play with, more crossplatform
portability, less worrying about developers having to reinvent the wheel
writing boilerplate UI/port code - so that they can get busy with writing
the emulator/porting the emulator/game.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Right now it's unique in that it runs the same emulator cores on
multiple systems (such as Xbox 360, PS3, PC, Wii, etc).

For each emulator 'core', RetroArch makes use of a library API that we
like to call 'libretro'.

Think of libretro as an interface for emulator and game ports. You can
make a libretro port once and expect the same code to run on all the
platforms that RetroArch supports. It's designed with simplicity and
ease of use in mind so that the porter can worry about the port at hand
instead of having to wrestle with an obfuscatory API.

The purpose of libretro is to help ease the work of the emulator/game
porter by giving him an API that allows him to target multiple platforms
at once without having to redo any code. He doesn't have to worry about
writing input/video/audio drivers - all of that is supplied to him by
RetroArch. All he has to do is to have the emulator port hook into the
libretro API and that's it - we take care of the rest.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
XBOX 360 PORT
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Xbox 360 port of RetroArch has the following features:

- Real-time rewinding
- Switching between emulator cores seamlessly, and ability to install
new libretro cores

Included with RetroArch 360 are a bunch of shaders - including the latest
version of the popular xBR shader. It is possible to use two shaders
simultaneously to get the best possible graphical look.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EMULATOR/GAME CORES BUNDLED WITH XBOX 360 PORT
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The following emulators/games have been ported to RetroArch and are included in
the Xbox 360 release of RetroArch.

For more information about them, see the included
'retroarch-libretro-README.txt' file.

- Final Burn Alpha (Arcade - various) [version 0.2.97.26]
- FCEUmm (Nintendo Entertainment System) [recent SVN version]

WHAT IS RETROARCH?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
RetroArch is a modular multi-system emulator system that is designed to
be fast, lightweight and portable. It has features few other emulator
frontends have, such as real-time rewinding and game-aware shading.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WHAT IS LIBRETRO?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Libretro is the API that RetroArch uses. It makes it easy to port games
and emulators to a single core backend, such as RetroArch.

For the user, this means - more ports to play with, more crossplatform
portability, less worrying about developers having to reinvent the wheel
writing boilerplate UI/port code - so that they can get busy with writing
the emulator/porting the emulator/game.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Right now it's unique in that it runs the same emulator cores on
multiple systems (such as Xbox 360, Xbox 1, PS3, PC, Wii, etc).

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
XBOX 1 PORT
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Xbox 1 port of RetroArch has the following features:

- Real-time rewinding (though most emus will not likely run fast
enough on Xbox 1 to handle this at fullspeed)
- Switching between emulator cores seamlessly, and ability to install
new libretro cores

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EMULATOR/GAME CORES BUNDLED WITH XBOX 1 PORT
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The following emulators/games have been ported to RetroArch and are included in
the Xbox 1 release of RetroArch.

For more information about them, see the included
'retroarch-libretro-README.txt' file.

- Final Burn Alpha Cores (CPS1 - CPS2 - NeoGeo) [version 0.2.97.26] (***)
- FCEUmm (Nintendo Entertainment System) [recent SVN version]
- Gambatte (Game Boy | Super Game Boy | Game Boy Color) [version 0.5.0 WIP]
- Genesis Plus GX (Sega SG-1000 | Master System | Game Gear | Genesis/Mega Drive |
Sega CD) [version 1.7.0]
- SNES9x Next (Super Nintendo/Super Famicom) (**)
- VBA Next (Game Boy Advance) (*)
- Prboom (for playing Doom 1/Doom 2/Ultimate Doom/Final Doom)
- Mednafen PCE Fast (PC Engine/PC Engine CD/Turbografx 16)
- Mednafen Wonderswan (WonderSwan/WonderSwan Color/WonderSwan Crystal)

All of the emulators listed above are the latest versions currently
available. Most of them have been specifically optimized so that
they will run better on Xbox 1 (some games would not reach fullspeed
without these optimizations).

* VBA Next doesn't run at fullspeed on Wii (VBA Next is a RetroConsole Level 2
emulator port). It will be replaced by a port of gpSP in the near future.
** SuperFX games will not run at fullspeed - a special version of SNES9x will
be developed for Retro Console Level 1 systems.
*** The biggest Neo-Geo ROMs that can be loaded are around 23+MB in
size, such as Real Bout Fatal Fury 1 and King of Fighters '96.

ZIP SUPPORT
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FOR EACH CORE (except for Final Burn Alpha)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are three modes -

EXTRACT ZIP TO CURRENT DIR: When you press 'X' on a ZIP file in the File Browser,
its contents will be extracted to the current directory. From there, you can
load the RMO and play.

EXTRACT ZIP TO CURRENT DIR AND LOAD FIRST FILE: When you press 'X' on a ZIP file
in the File Browser, its contents will be extracted to the current directory.
The first ROM that was extracted from the ZIP file that is a ROM will be loaded
automatically.

EXTRACT ZIP TO CACHE DIR: When you press 'X' on a ZIP file in the File Browser,
its contents will be extracted to the /dev_hdd1/ partition. From there,
you can load the ROM and play.

WARNING: Savestates and SRAM files that have been created by loading ROMs
from the cache dir this way will be removed after RetroArch has been closed.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FOR FINAL BURN ALPHA
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Selecting a ZIP file from the Filebrowser will load that game directly.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Troubleshooting
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you find that RetroArch no longer works for whatever reason, there is
a way to get it back to work -

- Remove retroarch.cfg from the 'Retroarch-XB1' folder, then start up again.
The Libretro management service in RetroArch should automatically pick a
random libretro core and write this to the config file.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What can you expect in the future?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- An official Android port of RetroArch (no, no App Store 'fee' - 'free'
as in beer AND as in libre - will be the focal point of RetroArch 0.9.8)
- Port of NxEngine to libretro - runs Cave Story (PC version is already done,
runs on big-endian consoles but has too many bugs to be playable)
- Port of MAME 0.72 to libretro
- Port of VICE to libretro
- Port of ScummVM to libretro
- More emulators, more games that will run on RetroArch
- Lots of other crazy ideas that might or might not pan out

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
